Shāhzādeh Hossein Shrine

The Shāhzādeh Hossein shrine (A), the tomb of the Imāmzādeh Hossein (A) who died in the year 201 of the lunar Hegira, son of the Imam Ali Ben Musa Al Rezā (A) is located in the city of Qazvin (homonymous region). Its construction dates back to the Ilkhanid period while the expansion and restoration to the Safavid and Qajaro period.

The Shāhzādeh Hossein (A) building complex includes: 4 entrance doors, a dome-like building, a portico, a central courtyard, a public fountain, a large bathtub, a Iwan, a six-sided mausoleum and rooms around the central court.

The entrance to the complex has an arch and six minarets and each is embellished with very beautiful majolica tiles. The interior of the mausoleum is decorated with encaustic tiles, its main part with mirrored mosaics, under the dome with calligraphy inscriptions Suns on a blue background and on the sepulcher there are two precious ones zarih in wood and in silver.

The oldest and most beautiful work of the complex is its inlaid wooden door. The other parts of it are: the kitchen Hazrati (where food was offered for charity), thehosseniyeh, two small courtyards, the martyrs' cemetery and the necropolis.

The Shāhzādeh Hossein shrine (A), which is also known by the locals as Shāzdeh Hossein, considered to be the most famous pilgrimage site in the city of Qazvin, from the third century of the Lunar Eghir onwards has always been a sanctuary popular and from that time until today is the mausoleum of many scientists, writers and famous people of the city.
