Fortress of the Parties

The Parthian fortress is located near the city of Shāhrud (Semnān region) and dates back to the Parthian and Sassanid times. Inside this rectangular fortress there are the remains of a brick and terracotta jar dating back to that period. On the four sides of this construction, which is 15 meters high above the ground level, collapsed arches in the shape of a vault can be observed.

This fortress, which probably had three floors at the beginning, possesses the architectural peculiarities of the Parthian period.
