The journalist and writer Bijan Zarmandili died.

The Iranian-born writer and journalist Bijan Zarmandili died in Rome. For a long time in the Espresso-Repubblica group, Limes correspondent for Iran, correspondent and expert on Middle Eastern affairs for other newspapers, he was also the author of numerous essays and novels dedicated to his native country.
Born in Teheran in 1941, he moved to Rome for the first time in 1960, where he studied architecture and political science. He was an intellectual well known for his commitment as a journalist and writer.
His latest book is 'The demons of the desert' (Nottetempo 2011). Among other titles, 'The heart of the enemy' (Cooper 2009) and 'Summer is cruel' (Feltrinelli 2007), a novel that earned him the 2007 Vittorini Prize and the 2007 Isola d'Elba Prize.
The funeral will be held on Monday 12 November, at 11, at the Egyptian Temple of the Verano cemetery in Rome.
