Imam Khomeini's home

Imam Khomeini's home

The house ofImam Khomeini is located in the Yakhchāl Ghāzi district of the city of Qom (region of the same name) and was purchased by the same Imam around the year 1338 of the solar Hegira. It is considered its first and last property and he lived in this very humble house until exile from Qom in Turkey (1342 Egira lunar).

The building is simple and two-storey and includes a ground floor and a basement, a courtyard and covered spaces on both sides. The interior areas of this ancient house have no decorations and stuccos. Even the exterior ones are made up of supports in simple bricks and homogeneous stucco surfaces without decorative elements.

At the center of the building there is a staircase that divides the building into two parts, external and internal. On the outside there is a large room that for years has served to welcome visitors and guests of theImam Khomeini.

This house, due to the fact of being in the Yakhchāl Ghāzi district, is also known by this name. It was not only the place of residence of the Imam, but also the place where many popular meetings, conferences and important political meetings took place, one of which was against the ratification of the "Capitulation" law.
