Caravanserai in green brick Pol Dallak

The Pol Dallak caravanserai is located on the Tehrān-Qom caravan route, north of the Masileh river and next to the bridge of the same name near the village of Malek Ābād (Qom region). The date of its construction is attributed to the period of Karim Khān Zand.

This historic four-sided white building is at 4 Iwan and the materials used in its construction are brick and stone. The entrance to the caravanserai, with brick decorations and two pointed arches, strikes the observer.

On the two sides of the entrance stand two large columns with brick decorations. After the entrance we find ourselves in front of an octagonal courtyard and the Iwan around it they are surrounded by pointed arches. A part of the Dallāk caravansary over time has been destroyed.

The meaning of the name Pol Dallāk (salmāni), according to the local inhabitants, derives from the fact that in the past a barber was going to cross the river but was hit by a flood and the current dragged him away. Following this, the kind-hearted people decided to build a bridge over this river so that no one would be more struck by the same misfortune.
