Caravanserai Deyr Gachin
The caravanserai Deyr Gachin is on the road from Garmsar to Qom, in the village Ali Ābād (region Qom) and its construction as a solid fortress on the Silk Road, dates back to the Sasanian period. Later, during the Seljuk and Safavids, it underwent fundamental changes and changed its function into caravanserai, and even in the qajara era it was enlarged (from the III to the VII century, XI and XII and from the XVI to the XVII).
The ancient caravanserai Deyr Gachin which is known as the "mother" of the caravanserais of Iran, with 19 hectares of surface is also known by other names such as: "fortress Kardshir", "Deyroljas", "Ghasr Aljas", "Ghasr-e Gach "," Ghal'e Deyr "," Deyr Gachin "and" Deyr Kāh ".
It has a square shape and includes: a rectangular entrance with two semi-circular towers and topped by a dome, a central courtyard and four towers at the corners.
This large complex, where stucco was used as the main construction material, is composed of many parts such as the mosque, the public bathroom with a dressing room, the khazineh (small room of the hammam with hot tub, continue to the garm-Khaneh), the toilet and the calidarium, two wells, one for the sewers and another to provide cold water for the hammam, a vestibule, some hojre (rooms where goods were exchanged and stored), 36 rooms, shops, a patio, a Iwan, a shelter for camels, a stone mill, an environment for guests, one howz khāne (covered area with a central basin, generally raised, often connected to other rooms), a platform for summer prayer, a trough for the animals and stables for their shelter.
Outside the complex there is a cemetery, a cistern and a brick kiln.
