Mausoleum of Fatima Masoumeh

The shrine complex of Hazrat-e Masoumeh, sepulcher of Fatima Masoumeh (201 lunar Hegira / 816 AD), daughter of Imam Musa Kazem, seventh Imam of the Shiites, and sister of Imam Reza (A), eighth Imam of the Shiites, is located in the city of Qom (region of the same name) and its construction dates back to the Safavid and qajara era.

The original sepulcher of Fatima Masoumeh (S) was a district called "Garden of the nightingales" the first zarih (metal grate overhanging the tomb) was built at the time of the Shah Tahmāsp I and gradually the mausoleum was enlarged and adjacent buildings were added.

The shrine has 8 entrances, 3 courts: the new court (otobaki) with 4 Iwan, the ancient court also with 4 Iwan and the court sāheb-e al-zaman, the building of the naghareh khāne, 6 goldasteh, Iwan gold and mirrored, 4 arcades (the areas closest to the zarih) called: Bālāsar, Darolhafāz, Āyneh (Shahid Behehsti) and Pishroo, as well as domes, a museum (with documents of historical value ranging from the second century of the Hegira to the contemporary era), a library etc. .. and all are considered masterpieces of Iranian architecture.

In this complex various types of decorations have been used such as: majolica, processing a muqarnas, stucco, mirrors, calligraphy, painting on plaster, working with silver, etc.

The tomb and it zarih of Fatima Masoumeh (S) is located under the main dome. In this complex there are also the mausoleums of great and famous figures in the religious and cultural sphere and of some sovereigns and statesmen.

Today the sanctuary, which over time has been restored, expanded and renovated several times and suffered destruction, attacks etc. after the Qods Razavi region (city of Mashhad) is the most solemn and famous mausoleum in Iran.
