Caravanserai of Khaje Nazar

Caravanserai of Khaje Nazar

The caravansary of Khaje Nazar is located next to the Aras River and near the city of Jolfā (eastern Azerbāijān region) and its construction dates back to the Safavid era.

This ancient caravanserai, also called Abbāsi di Jolfā, rectangular in stone and brick, has a central courtyard and three Iwan in its three sides. It had dome-shaped roofs and from inside through the corridors leads to the rooms.

In this caravanserai there is the living museum of terracotta and ceramics of Aras and the historical sites closest to it are: the church of Chupān, the Ziā Al-Malek bridge and the churches of Santo Stefano and Santa Maria di Jolfā.
