Ancient city of Harire

The ancient city of Harire

The ancient city of Harire, to the north of the island, which dates back to the ninth century AD was the district that housed the villas and offices of the wealthy people that populated the city. In the city there are large cisterns to conserve rainwater and 5 large and thriving markets. The city of Harire, of which today remains the ruins, had a Sasanid-style architecture that probably also had something of the beginnings of the Islamic style. The city's naval port could be restored and functioned as it once was, as it has completely retained its original form. In the excavations of Harire terracotta pots were found and then the more recent ones, from the Safavid period, marked by the green color. These trays have usually drawn on top of dragons, fish or flowers.
