Underground city of Kariz
Kariz (or Qanat) of the Harire archaeological site is an underground city, intended to collect and purify water, so as to guarantee life in case of emergencies. This area was built about 2.500 years ago: the water management system consists of 274 wells, located within an area of 14 km, and conveys the water to a central filtration system. The long-forgotten and abandoned structure was rediscovered in 1999.
