Grotta Di Pipistrello

Bats cave

The bat cave is located at 3 km south-east of the city of Dehlorān on the slopes of Mount Sāh and dominates the valley and the hot springs of the city. The main corridor of the cave is 255 meters long, 30 wide and 50 high and for being populated by a considerable amount of bats with tail and wide wings, has become famous with this name. It is part of the historical caves of the troglodyte era, has many stalactites and stallagmites and has wide corridors whose depth in some parts reaches the 400 meters. The floor of this cave over thousands of years has been covered by a thick mass of bats' dung that is used by farmers to fertilize agricultural land. This cave, with more than 30 thousand bats, is considered among the 7 types (such as the "mouse-tailed") among the rare caves of the Middle East. Ecotourists go to this place to observe the fascinating spectacle of the grouping of bats from the cave at sunset.
