Stone Lion

The Stone Lion

The stone lion sculpture of the Seljuk-Partico period is located on a historical hill in the city of Hamedān where a sepulcher belonging to the Parthian period was also found.

This stone lion which is long 2,5 meters, wide 1,15 and high 1,2, in the period of the conquest of Hamedān by the Arabs was situated together with its analogue to the entrance door of the city.

In the year 1319 (Lunar Hegira) when the people of Dilamyān conquered Hamedān, it also destroyed the entrance door, one of the lions and legs of the remained one, until the sculpture in the year 1328 (solar egira) was placed in the current place.
