Talaghan dam lake

The Tālaghān dam lake is located on the Shāhrud River near the city of Tālaghān (Alborz region, south of the Alborz mountain range) and 100 km from the city of Karaj. The construction of this dam started in the year 1381 and was put into use in the 1385 of the solar Hijra.

The Tālaghān earthen dam is located at 1789 meters above sea level and at 103 meters from the riverbed. Currently the lake is 15 km long. Around the dam, considering the climate of the area, green meadows have grown, which have made this place an ideal destination to spend a day outdoors.

Beside the lake, besides enjoying the beautiful landscapes, it is possible to go fishing. The presence of numerous springs, thundering waterfalls, mountains that rise towards the sky, glaciers and religious and historical testimonies present in this beautiful city, are the main reasons for its importance in the tourism sector
