Hammam Gap

The hammam Gap is located in the city of Bandar Abbas (Hormozgan region) and most probably dates back to the beginning of the Qajar era or before it; in the reign period of the second monarch of the Pahlavi dynasty it was equipped and remained in use until the end of the decade of the fifties.

The ancient hammam Gap, due to its proximity to the sea shore and the high level of humidity and that of groundwater, was built half underground and this was done to favor the decrease of the heat transfer.

In the construction of the large hammam which is also known by the name of Gap, stone, brick combined with cement mortar, plaster and cement have been used in the last decade. The hammam has two parts, the male one and the female one, numerous corridors and vestibules that hinder the passage of heat and the internal light is provided by some skylights.
