Chāleshtar Castle (Khodā Rahm Khān)

This castle of the time Qajar (Chāleshtar Castle) is located in the town of Chāleshtar at 10 km from Shahr-e Kord and in the past was the historical home of the rulers of the province of Chahār Mahāl. The construction of this castle was completed in 1323 (Lunar Hegira) and belonged to the Khodā Rahm Khān of Chāleshtar. The building consists of an entrance, a vestibule, an andaruni (internal courtyard, private area of ​​the house reserved for women), an outdoor courtyard, a hammam, a stable, etc. It was built on land with an area of approximately 12000 square meters and is divided into two sectors, northern and southern. The architectural style of this castle is a combination of the qajara and European architecture. The imposing and refined construction of this historical complex has 38 stone columns with an entrance and an iwān (portico) which is also adorned with various relief motifs. The castle andaruni is connected by a corridor to the main hall and its iwān has 10 stone columns. The rooms are decorated with motifs in the pictorial style that mixes Iranian and Western elements. The hammam is decorated with turquoise, white and lead-colored tiles. The ceiling of the andaruni is coffered in walnut and also the doors and windows of the rooms are in walnut with gereh motifs. The andaruni of the Chāleshtar castle is known as the Setudeh castle. It has an entrance with eight stone columns sculpted with designs of vine and geometric branches and in its lateral wooden parts are placed stone guardians in relief decorated with stone coverings with colored motifs. The second floor of the Setudeh castle has five rooms. The room with five doors and the rooms adjacent to it have an inscription with verses from the Koran, some paintings, plaster ornaments above the fireplace and the edge and the ceiling tablet are decorated. In the courtyard there are two elliptical stone fountains. In this historical complex there are also some museums such as anthropology, stone works and activities and daily life.
