Mehmāndust Tower

The Mehmāndust tower is located south of the village of the same name in the city of Dāmghān (Semnān region). This brick tower which is similar to the Toghrol tower of the city of Rey, was built in the 490 year of the lunar Hegira and was equipped with a collapsed dome.

This twelve-sided tower with over 14 meters in height is placed on a circle-shaped base and the part decorated with twelve sides is turned into a cylinder. The decorations of the upper part include: inscriptions and beautiful muqarnas e the epigraphs are in Cufic calligraphy and surround the whole tower.

It has twelve half-income, one of which is a real income. In the tower there is a brick sepulcher in the middle and two other stone fenced tombs but the identity of the person buried here is unknown; however, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages believe that this tower is the mausoleum of the Imamzadh Ghāsem, among the sons of Imam Musa Ben Ja'far (A). It is also known as Ma'soumzādeh tower and Imāmzādeh Ghāsem, and the locals for the fact that it is roofless also calls it "sar bar nadār".

The Mehmāndust tower is very similar to the Toghrol tower of the city of Rey and therefore some also call it the Toghrol tower of Semnān.
