Mosque of the Imam

The Imam mosque, Shāh mosque or Soltāni mosque, is located in the city of Semnān (homonymous region). The date of construction of this mosque, which is one of the most beautiful and important historical buildings in Semnān, dates back to the qajaro period and to the year 1243 of the solar Hegira.

It has four large entrance doors from the north, south, east and north-west. To the north-west it gives on a long corridor at the end of which is the tekkye Pahneh. The doors to the north, south and east have a vestibule and a corridor. Above the northern and eastern gates there are beautiful ornamental motifs a muqarnas in stucco with two gushvāreh on two floors on both sides and behind the majolica side parts. In the vestibules to the north, south and east you can see brick vaults with a dome with numerous blind arches worked with tiles.

The mosque has numerous Iwan and ample Shabestan, different environments and many inscriptions with beautiful majolica tiles and encaustic tiles.
