Sanctuary of the Imāmzādeh Yahya
The shrine of the Imamzadeh Yahya, son of the Imam Musa Ben Ja'afar (A) is located in the historical center of the city of Semnān (homonymous region). The great dome of the mausoleum that rises above the sanctuary dates back to the eighth century and the Mongol period.
The complex of this sanctuary includes a large onion-shaped dome with turquoise tiles, theIwan majolica, the sanctuary, the courtyard, blind arches with blue tiles, the portico and the corridor.
In the north wing of the shrine of the Imamazadh Yahya there are the tombs of more than 270 martyrs of the Islamic revolution of the 1357 originating in Semnān and the eight years of defense of the war imposed by Iraq to Iran. nell 'Iwan of the mausoleum of this Imāmzādeh there are also tombs of many authoritative clerics of the city.
The Imāmzādeh Yahya can be considered the religious center of Semnān; the Sādeqieh theological school of the city, the Jām'eh mosque, the Imam mosque, the tekkye Pahneh and the great hosseniyeh they are located near this place of pilgrimage.
