Mausoleum of Bāyazid Bastāmi

The mausoleum of Bāyazid Bastāmi, known as Soltān Al-ārefin (prince of the mystics) (804-874), one of the most important Sufi mystics and masters of Iran, is located in the city of Bastām, in the province of Shāhrud (Semnān region).

The oldest works of this mausoleum belong to the centuries from the third to the fifth but most of its parts were built in the Ilkhanidi period and after them.

The mausoleum is one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles of Iran and the most important historical monument of Bastām which is located in a complex that includes the mausoleum of Bāyazid, the Imāmzādeh Mohammad, the Bāyazid Bastāmi Mosque, the Shabestan of the Bastām Mosque, the brick minaret, the Khanqah (meeting place of the dervishes) of Bāyazid, the dome and theIwan Ghāzān Khān, the Safavid portico and one gonbadkhāneh from the name "sardābeh"; This complex is located near the Jām'eh mosque in Bastām, the Māsasaasaa Shāharkhieh and the Kāshāneh tower.

The tomb of Bāyazid is devoid of any kind of decoration and has a window covered in iron. On the grave there is a marble stone engraved with the words of the most famous litanies of Imam Ali Ben Abi Tāleb (A).
