Torre Lājim

The Lājim tower is located in the city of Savād Kuh (Māzandarān region). This historic building dates back to the era of Āl Zyār (930-1090). The external façade is a simple conical dome of elegant workmanship adorned by a row of arches and inside it is circular in appearance with the entrance in the eastern part.

In the area under the dome two inscriptions have been placed on each other with smooth bricks against a background of white stucco with Kufic calligraphies. pahlavi. In the Kufic inscription, which from the point of view of beauty and artistic value is considered among the most beautiful examples of decorated Kufic calligraphy, the name and appellative of the owner of the tomb is engraved.

The importance of the Lājim tower mostly concerns the fact of containing the pahlavi inscription next to the Kufic one. This historic building, which was built with bricks and cement mortar, is situated in the hills of the forest that on three sides face deep precipices.

In the past at the edge of the crevasses there was a moat with huge walls that probably included a large and important fortress of which the Lājim tower was a part.

It is mistakenly known as the mausoleum of the Imāmzādeh Abdollah and is considered one of the most beautiful historical monuments and tourist attractions of the Māzandarān region.
