Cave Chal Nakhjir

Chāl Nakhjir Cave

The Chāl Nakhjir cave is located near Delijān and in an area of ​​the same name (Markazi region). The age of this three-story cave is estimated at around 70 million years and is considered among the limestone caves and lives of the world.

Its entrance is at the same level with the earthly surface and is 10 meters wide and high between the 10 and the 40 meters. The ceiling is very high and the average of its height reaches the 8 meters. The width of the cave from the entrance to the depth of one km is variable. It has two routes, up to the first 600 meters the path is common and then divided into two branches. The total length of each of the routes is about 1300 meters.

In most places in the cave, small basins of water leap to the eye and in the bottom of it there is a deep lake 70 meters that has been discovered up to 600 square meters of its surface and it is estimated that its width is equal to 3000 meters. 

Stalactites and stalagmites have formed inside the cave due to limestone deposits, formations similar to moricandia (broccoli) and crystalline, and the more diffused quantity of forms increases within.  

In addition, in some places, needle-like and elongated deposits made of gypsum are observed. Numerous rooms with names such as: "wedding banquet", "lake", "purgatory", "zoo", "forty lamps", "forty columns" and beautiful halls and basins of water, long corridors and difficult paths in some places, crystals in the form of very varied and even unique drops are among the peculiarities of the Chāl Nakhjir cave.

There were formed decorative stones of various shapes such as the eagle, the turtle, the deer, the man, the pigeon, and crystallized sculptures in the form of giants of which the majority are limestone. The rooms "arus"(Bride),"gol-e kalami"(Broccoli)"ābshar-e goli","farsang, is "hayulā"(Monster) are among the most interesting parts of this rare and particular cave.
