House of the Kurds (historical building of Āsef)

The Kurdi house (historical building of Āsef) is located next to the Jāme'h mosque in the city center of Sanandaj (Kurdistān region). The construction of this building relates to three periods, the Safavid, Qajaro and Pahlavi, and in recent years the entire building has been restored.

The architectural style and decorations of the historic building of Āsef Diwān or Āsef Vaziri, with an area of ​​almost 4000 square meters, are very beautiful and noteworthy. This brick house was divided into 4 different parts including the outdoor courtyard, the inner courtyard, the service courtyard and the kitchen courtyard and in structures such as: the portal and the entrance vestibule, the shāhneshin (secluded place suitable for sitting and often reserved for guests) with double-layered ceiling, ceremonial hall, rooms inside one another Iwan, corridors, some tubs of water in stone, a basement, etc., next to decorations such as: reticulated windows with polychrome glass, alveoli workings (muqarnas), gerechini (type of weaving) and also contains one of the most beautiful historical hammams of the Kurdistān.

To install the different parts of the large steel door of the building that has arabesque motifs, nails and bolts were used instead of welding.

Currently this building that houses the anthropological museum of the Kurd ethnic group, symbol of the culture, art and identity of this people, includes different parts including the gallery and the entrance courtyard, the hammam, the pavilions of urban life , the school of the past, the crochet work, the jewels, the agricultural section, the trades, the documents and period photos section, the room of the Khān, the section of the clothes, the hunting pavilion, the craft section, the kitchen section, the agricultural life, the library and the document center where you can learn about the original way of life, culture, customs and customs. ancient Kurdish jewels, their various trades in the past and many other things, as well as enjoying the sculptures with traditional clothes and admiring the busts of famous Kurds.
