Hammam of the historical building of Asef
The hammam of the historic building of Āsef is located in the Kurdish house (historical palace of Āsef) in the center of the city of Sanandaj (Kurdistān region), it was built approximately in the qajara era and only had private use by of the Āsef family.
The construction of the building dates back to three periods, Safavid, Qajaro and Pahlavi. This public bath, one of the most beautiful historical hammams in Kurdistān, in the architectural style of Esfahān with beautiful limestone decorations, glazed raw brick tiles in light blue color, six stone columns with twisted shafts, was built in total harmony with the style of the Iranian hammams in the southwest side of the building.
Being entirely private and available to family members, its measurements are reduced compared to similar hammams. It consists of various sections such as the portal, the corridor, the khazineh, the added water fountain, the toilet and the dressing room, the frigidarium and calidarium and the columns with twisted stems.
The water supply method of the Āsef building is traditional and noteworthy: the necessary water is provided by a chain of Qanat (underground canals) flowing from the west of Sanandaj through terracotta pipes (and new steel pipes). An environment has also been created next to the entrance vestibule whose task is to regulate and distribute water adequately.
