Casa Tiznoo
The Tiznoo house is located in the city of Dezful (Khuzestān region). The original building of this ancient palace dates back to that time Safavid while in the qajara and pahlavi it underwent many changes.
This two-story house is one of the oldest, largest and most beautiful in Dezful which, from the point of view of the architectural style, has all the peculiarities of the houses of this city.
It has eight entry doors, one Iwan main ground floor and two secondary floors on the first floor, rooms in the Iwan, gholām gardesh (a path for the passage of the servants), a colonnaded prayer hall or Shabestan it's one shavādun (in local dialect, environment similar to Shabestan). The courtyard floor is covered with brick.
The main door of the house overlooks the main square of the Ghal'e district. On both sides of the elegant entrance there are small platforms to sit. After passing through the main door, there is a vestibule with a beautiful ceiling covered with river pebbles; the left side of it leads to the outside or to the area reserved for guests while the right side leads inside or to the private rooms of the house.
From the entrance on the left you can reach the main courtyard with the pool and the garden and then by four steps the ground floor, theIwan and the rooms that have windows reticulated with polychrome glass. The brick workings of this house are fascinating and varied.
The Tiznoo house like most Dezful houses has two types of basements, a columned prayer hall and a shavādunthat Shabestan it is about one and a half meters lower than the level of the courtyard. It has three entrances and each one by means of steps leads to the courtyard.
The presence of small windows and the difference in the level of the ground floor with the courtyard meant that it Shabestan have a good skylight. The shavādun of this house with 24 / 25 steps down. It is one of Dezful's architectural features and its depth is greater than that of the Shabestan. Its function was to ward off the summer heat and keep the environment cool during the day. The upper floor of the house is divided into two parts, eastern and western. It has two entrance doors and a few rooms. From the roof you can enjoy a beautiful view of the river Dez and the Dezful bridge.
Currently the Tiznoo house has changed its function and has been used as a Dezful cultural office. Besides 200 valuable and beautiful historical houses like this building, the Qalambar and Mastufi house in the historical center of Dezful have made it a tourist city with traces of a glorious architectural past.
