Ahvāz white bridge

The white bridge (suspension or half-moon bridge) of Ahvāz was built in the 1315 (solar Hegira) on the Karun river and in the 1389 (solar Hegira) it was restored and rebuilt. The white bridge is the fourth suspension bridge in the world, the first of Iran and one of the eight bridges built on the Karun river that connects the two parts, east and west, of the city of Ahvāz.
This long 501,2 meter bridge, 9,8 wide and 13 meters high, was built on eight reinforced concrete pillars. It has two large arcs of 136 and 130 meters, three central 49 meters, and also two lateral 12 and 20 meters.
All the parts have been put together by screws and dowels. The white bridge has two sidewalks on both sides and a path for cars.
