Shaukat Abad garden

The Shaukat Ābād garden is located in the homonymous village near Birjand (southern Khorāsān region). Its construction dates back to the Qajar era and was used as a summer residence.

This garden, with an area of ​​approximately 8,5 hectares, is located in a mountainous area and has entrances and an internal building which includes: the courtyard, theIwan, the vestibule, connecting spaces, corridors and numerous rooms on the four sides of the courtyard and service areas which include: the bathroom, the kitchen, the hammam, the service and surveillance rooms, the stables, the icehouse and towers of sighting at the four corners of the garden.

The main palace of the Shaukat Ābād garden has several environments such as: the howzkhāneh (area covered with a central basin) with its marked architectural and decorative features, a large dome in the center with a cylindrical top and some windows, the central part and the rooms around the howzkhāneh.

This garden, a large part of which is covered by fruit trees, decorative and shady, also houses the museum of natural history and wildlife of Birjand.
