Akbariyeh Palace and Garden
the ancient palace called Akbariyeh, located in the heart of the capital Birjand, dates back to the Zandieh era and was originally the court palace. The architectural structure of the building represents a mixture of styles, Islamic, Turkish and Russian, which give it a unique appearance. The garden, part of Iran's historic gardens and a UNESCO heritage site since 2011, is the most stunning part of the entire palace with its majestic tree-lined avenues.
Inside the palace, today, there is the Archaeological Museum, the Anthropological Museum - which collects artifacts and reconstructions of the daily life of the region over the centuries, including all kinds of tools, fabrics, clothes and accessories, up to games from different eras - and the Museum of Celebrities - which houses a collection of images and biographies of influential public figures in the history of Khorasan and throughout Iran. The exhibition is organized according to three fields, scientific, literary and religious, and in addition to the biographies their works, writings and works are exhibited and presented.
