The Tower of Gonbad-e Kavus (Qabus) is one of the tallest brick towers in the world, representing one of the most valuable works of Islamic architecture in Iran and is located north of the city of Gonbad-e Kavus in the center of the Park of Qabus. This building belongs to the time ziyaride, is located at 3 km from the remains of the ancient city of Jorjan - the seat of the government of the Ziyarids - and represents a memorable trace of the glorious past of this region and of the Zyarid dynasty. Some of the main objectives that led the Ziyarids to the realization of this work can be cited below: handing down the memory of their own exploits to future generations, showing the Islamic art and architecture of their glorious period, providing shelter and a point referring to travelers and merchant caravans that crossed their territories.
