Yalda's night with competition and prizes

Yalda's night; Night of Poetry.

Shab-e Yalda is celebrated in Iran on 21 December. It is the longest night of the year. From this moment on, the days get longer little by little.

On this night, Iranian families gather to eat watermelon, sing and make wishes through Hafez's poems. To exorcise the darkness of the night, candles and lanterns are lit.

Never before have we all needed to see the light at the end of this long winter.

Dir and Negah, in collaboration with the Cultural Institute of Iran, have decided to celebrate this anniversary together, but at a distance, in a live broadcast that we hope will be as long and participatory as possible.

It starts at 21,30, it will go on until we have poems to declaim and the desire to be together.

Anyone who wants it can intervene to read a poem, not necessarily Persian.

It will also be possible to participate with your own compositions.

Everyone can participate, with poems from every country, every language, on every theme.

On the occasion, the following will be awarded:

  • The best composition of Yalda's table
  • The best original poem
  • The best interpretation of non-original poetry

Everyone can participate, with poems from every country, every language, on every theme.

Just fill in the form by 22pm on Saturday 19th December.
