The disappearance of the great Iranian artist Mohsen Vaziri Moghadam

Mourning in the art world: Mohsen Vaziri Moghadam is dead.

Mohsen Vaziri, the dean of Iranian artists missed the morning of 7 September 2018 at the age of 94 years surrounded by his family members.

A pioneer of contemporary art known worldwide who was able to transform the teaching of art at the academic level in Iran from the traditional to the new modern system that still today art students in Iran use the same system.

In 1955 Vaziri traveled to Rome to further his studies and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts until 1958. His time at the academy coincided with the establishment of European Informalism and painting of American action. After having "studied and analyzed the new movements of modern art", Vaziri came to the conclusion that "painting is not a reconstruction of objective reality, but the artist must create something that has never existed before".

We wish to express our deepest condolences to family, friends and the community of artists for the loss of an illustrious figure in the art world.
