Much of the Islamic world is celebrating the Week of Islamic Unity these days.
The 17th day of the Islamic lunar month of Rabi al-Awwal, corresponding this year to September 21 in the Gregorian calendar, is in fact the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad (God bless him and his family) according to Shiite tradition. According to Sunni sources, however, the day of the birth of the Prophet of Islam (SW) is the 12th of Rabi al-awwal (September 16).
The Cultural Institute of Iran in Rome extends to all the faithful of Islam its most sincere wishes for the celebrations on the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, (S) founder of the Islamic religion whose coming is celebrated in the month of September in reference to the year 570 approximately and who passed away in Medina on 8 June 632.
