Ferdowsi is one of the undisputed giants of Persian literature. After his "Shāh-Nāmeh", in the area subject to the influence of the Persian language, numerous other similar works were written over the centuries. Without exception, these works were all based on the structure and style of Ferdowsi's masterpiece, but none of them achieved the same level of fame and popularity.
Ferdowsi holds a unique role in Persian history due to his progress in reviving and recovering the Persian language and cultural traditions. His works are counted as a crucial component of the survival of the linguistic tradition of Persia, as these works have allowed much of the language to remain intact and codified.
