Italy and Iran are both countries with a very strong cultural vocation. The relations between the two nations, which have a rich historical and cultural past, have their roots far back in time, two great civilizations with inestimable artistic and cultural heritages, which have always represented a factor of fundamental importance and effectiveness for the '' establishment and development of bilateral relations in all areas.
Today the Iranian Cultural Institute in Rome is the only official structure that deals with the promotion of culture and civilization of Iran in Rome through its cultural activities and the support granted to artists.
With this in mind, since the issue of immigration and refugees is a question that Italy and Iran have been dealing with for several years on two different fronts, Ali Shams, the Iranian director decides to stage it, provoking the curiosity of the viewer European.
After Dal Khutai Namak and The Human Farm, with Mediterraneo Ali Shams brings to the stage the drama of hundreds of thousands of human beings who decide to cross the Mediterranean Sea, putting their lives at risk. For the author, the Mediterranean is no longer just a sea, but a sort of country that swallows the dreams of those fleeing the horrors of violence and devastation in search of a new life. Interpreted by Iranian actresses Bahar Katoozi, Maral Farjad and Parisa Nazari, Mediterraneo was written in Persian and translated into English by Mina Kazemzade and into Italian by Parisa Nazari. In Italy it will be represented in bilingual, Italian and English versions, while the rest of the tour will be entirely in English. The tour begins on 24 October at the Spazio Matta in the city of Pescara, continuing from 26 to 28 October at the Teatro di Documenti in Rome and on XNUMX November in Budapest.

Because it does not matter in which part of the world we are born, it does not matter which sea is our Mediterranean: every human tragedy is, always, the tragedy of each of us.
