Matera 2019 events, hosts the exhibition From Matera to Tus.

Matera 2019 events: On the occasion of the appointment the city of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019 (Matera 2019) and in the presence of the Councilor for Cultural Heritage, Activities and Production of the Municipality of Matera Prof. D'Andrea and director of the Cultural Institute of Iran in Rome dr. Gholi the exhibition entitled by Matera to Tus-Mashhad was inaugurated at the Hypogeum of Piazza San Francesco in Matera.

The exhibition represents a collection containing 40 photos that compares the sacred places of the city of Mashhad seen by the illustrious Materan Antonio Raffaele Giannuzzi (1818-1876) and the sacred places of the same city in our times.

An initiative that includes, within the events of Matera 2019, the naming of a street in Matera to the city of Khorasan and the donation of the statue (half-length) of the great Persian poet Ferdowsi (920-1020) to the city of Matera and the title of a street in Tus in Matera.

The initiative stems from the collaboration between the Cultural Institute of Iran in Rome, the Municipality of Matera, the Matera 2019 Foundation, the Abruzzo Avventure Cultural Association and the Municipality of Mashhad with the precious contribution of dott. Pasquale Doria and Iranian citizens residing in Matera.

The exhibition can be visited until next 19 October at the Hypogeum in Piazza San Francesco with free admission.
