Ali ibn Abu Talib is considered the first perfect product of education and training given by Prophet Muhammad, of which he was a cousin and son-in-law. First Imam for the Shiites and fourth Caliph for the Sunnis, Ali is a world-famous personality who has been the subject of countless discussions and debates. All scholars and researchers have recognized him, according to the testimony of history and the admissions of friends and enemies, gifts such as faith, courage, the sense of justice, wisdom. Many traditions also tell of his benevolence towards the subordinates, of compassion for the dispossessed and of generosity towards the poor. This short essay aims to be an introduction to this multifaceted and mysterious personality, to better understand the history and principles of Islam, of which Ali is an absolutely fundamental figure and a leading figure.
