Horizons of Iran; Film Review of Documentarians
The Horizons from Iran film festival is back, dedicated to the productions of young and emerging Iranian documentaries.
The theme of the second edition is "Operation Peace Dreaming", A look at the Iran-Iraq war, a wound still open in our recent history.
We often talk about war with a disarming ease, but is it possible that from this river of words ideas, hints, images can help us to find the key to lasting peace?
From this simple, perhaps naive, but essential question, the path of the Orizzonti dall'Iran review was born, through the work of some of the most interesting young Iranian documentary makers. It can be seen that most of the authors, to the immediate account of the conflict, prefer the indirect way of dealing with war through the narration of peace that follows it. The horror does not end with the end of hostilities, but remains forever imprinted in the flesh and soul of the people and places that have suffered it.
In the same way, the vision of these war stories allows us to reflect concretely on peace, linking our thoughts to the living and true images we have just seen. The authors of the works presented in this review are true peace activists, who share the goal of witnessing the tragedy of war to show it to the world in all its brutality, through their artistic gaze and human.
To open the review is the tribute to Amir Naderi, one of the greatest Iranian directors, with an almost impossible-to-find film: La Ricerca 2 (1982), to then continue with ten other works by young Iranian documentarians who tried to show the truth face of war even years after its end.
