Contemporary Iran through literature.
On the occasion of the publication of the book Eighty years of short stories. Three generations of Iranian authors published in 2023 by the Fuorilinea publishing house in collaboration with ISMEO.
The meeting "Contemporary Iran through literature”, promoted by the professors Fabio Macioce e Nicoletta Rangone (GEPLI Department of LUMSA University), is an opportunity to reflect on the reality and tensions of contemporary Iran through a multidisciplinary gaze which, starting from literature, seeks a broad understanding of the culture and society of this great country.
In this perspective, during the initiative, the volume "Eighty years of short stories. Three generations of Iranian authors" (Outline, 2023).
The meeting – organized in collaboration with the Cenacolo of diplomatic and international studies and with ISMEO – Italian Institute for the Middle and Far East – is scheduled for Tuesday 7 March 2023, at 16.00 pm, in attendance at the Sala Pia of the Giubileo complex (entrance from via di Porta Castello 44, Rome) and in streaming on Google Meet.
The event will be opened by the initial greetings of prof. Francesco Bonini, rector of LUMSA University. The theme will be introduced by the interventions of the professors Fabio Macioce (Professor of Philosophy of Law and Bioethics, LUMSA University) e Nicoletta Rangone (full professor of Administrative Law, LUMSA University).
Speeches will follow Adrian Valerio Rossi (Full Professor of Iranian Philology, University The Oriental of Naples and president of ISMEO), of Abolhassan Hatami (translator), Antonello Sacchetti (journalist) e Paul Sannella (former ambassador of Italy to the Republic of the Ivory Coast). Some reading by Gaudia Sciacca (Libraries of Rome) and a video interview with Mehrnoosh Aryanpour (Carey LaySchool, Pennsylvania) created and recorded by members of the Last Supper of Diplomatic and International Studies. The event will end with a short video message from Joseph Perrone, current Ambassador of Italy to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
