tonbak; Persian Musical Instrument
The Tonbak (Tombak, Dombak, Dandunak or Zarb) is a percussion instrument and belongs to the family of tablos shaped like a chalice. This instrument is made of walnut, maple or mulberry in one piece and consists of parts such as the taneh (body), the Nafir o Galui (neck), the final and initial part and from the skin.
Tonbak has different sizes. The large tombak is usually used in the orchestra, while the small tombak is used for solo performances.
