The 43rd edition of the Turin Film Festival is preparing to return to the forefront of the Italian and international film scene. From November 21 to 29, 2025, for nine consecutive days, the Savoy city will host one of the most important film events in the country, directed by Giulio Base.

The theme of the 2025 edition: a tribute to Paul Newman

This year, the festival pays tribute to Paul Newman on the centenary of his birth. One of the most beloved faces in the history of cinema, he will be celebrated with a dedicated retrospective and will be featured on the official poster for the 43rd edition. After dedicating the previous edition to Marlon Brando, the Torino Film Festival continues its celebration of the great stars of international cinema.

Registrations to participate in the selections are already open and filmmakers have until September 5th to submit their works.

The Turin Film Festival is divided into three main competitive sections:

COMPETITIVE SECTIONS:

  • International Documentary Competition
  • International Short Film Competition

NON-COMPETITIVE SECTIONS:

  • Out of Competition: dedicated to film production of particular importance
  • Special Events: retrospectives and thematic focuses
  • Special sections: to promote emerging cinema and new talents

The philosophy of the festival

The Turin Film Festival aims to be a meeting place and forum for new international cinema, encompassing its diverse perspectives and artistic trends. The event pays particular attention to emerging cinema, young filmmakers, and independent filmmakers, prioritizing in its competitive sections the awareness and dissemination of films by new auteurs characterized by stylistic and formal originality.

Hosting and special guests

The opening and closing evenings will be hosted by Laura Chiatti, an Italian actress who will accompany the audience on the two official evenings of the Festival, taking to the stage of the Teatro Regio in Turin alongside the director Giulio Base.

Each selected film will be screened up to four times during the festival. Foreign films will be screened in their original language with subtitles.
