The academic and cultural world mourns the passing of the Dr. Asghar Dadbeh, one of the most authoritative and luminous figures in Islamic philosophy and mystical literature (erfān). An esteemed teacher and tireless researcher, Dadbeh leaves an unfillable void in the heart of Persian culture.
Born in Yazd, where he took his first steps in Quranic education, he graduated in Theology from the University of Tehran. His career has been a long journey dedicated to the transmission of knowledge: he has taught at prestigious universities such as Allameh Tabataba'i, the Payame Noor andYazd University, also holding the position of director of the Persian Language and Literature department at Azad University (North Tehran).
A legacy between philosophy and mysticism
Professor Dadbeh's contribution was not limited to the university classroom. He was a pillar of the Great Islamic Encyclopedia and Encyclopedia of Shiism, creating fundamental works that will remain milestones for scholars and enthusiasts. Among his most famous works are:
Il Dictionary of Theological Terms;
Treatises on the teaching of philosophy;
The curatorship of the Divan by Zahir Faryabi;
The wise Logic of the Art of the City.
In 2002, for his extraordinary merits, he was awarded the prestigious title of “Eternal Face” (Chehreh-haye Mandegar) in the categories of mystical literature and Islamic philosophy.
