 For the first time in Italian, a book dealing with contemporary Persian literature.

The Persian language with its rich literary heritage manages to amaze the reader.

Juybār-e Lahzehā,  this is the title in Persian of the present Manual of contemporary Persian literature and essays, finally presents, in a timely and modern criticism, the literature and essays produced in Iran, but also in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, starting from the years preceding the constitutional revolution (1905-11) to the present day. Enriched by specific chapters dealing with Persian and female literature in these three countries, volume is an indispensable tool of knowledge in a field of study of particular relevance.

Il Manual of Contemporary Persian Literature and Essays inaugurates the new series Almas('diamond'), a joint publishing initiative of Ponte33 and ISMEO, born with the aim of finally offering Italian readers a selection of the works of the pioneers of modern Iranian literature.

Each text will be accompanied by an introductory essay, given to experts of Italian or foreign Persian literature, and by an apparatus of notes and bibliography, with the intent of framing the work in the context in which it was originally published and defining its role in the successive development of the various literary movements.

In Iran, Juybār-e Lahzehā has experienced an extraordinary success with the public, arriving in no time at the fifteenth reprint.

Author of the book Mohammad Ja'far Yāhaqqi, professor of Persian Language and Literature at the "Ferdowsi" University of Mashasd and member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature.                                

The translation of the book is by Neda Alizadeh Kashani, PhD in Comparative Language and Literature at the University of Macerata and Raffaelle Mauriello, Iranist and Islamist. Researcher at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages ​​of the University of Allameh Tabatabai.
