Mab'ath Day

Mab'ath Day

The festival of Mab'ath is celebrated in the Islamic world.

On the 27th day of the Holy Month of Rajab, the Islamic world celebrates the festival of Mab'ath, the day on which the mission of the Prophet Mohammad (May God bless him and his family) began through divine revelation, when he received from Allah, through Jebre'il (the Archangel Gabriel), the task of bringing to humanity the new message of God, namely Islam.

According to sources, the meeting with the Archangel Gabriel took place while the Prophet Mohammad (SW) was in the Haraa cave on the heights near Mecca, where he used to go on spiritual retreat.

On that occasion the first verses of the Holy Quran were also revealed to the Prophet. These were the verses of the Quranic Surah Al-Alaq.

At the time of the incident the Prophet was forty years old. Muhammad, now a Prophet, communicated the message he had received from God first to his neighbors and relatives, and the first man and woman who accepted this message were Ali ebn Abi Talib, his cousin and later son-in-law, and his wife Khadijah.

For the next 23 years of his earthly life, Prophet Mohammad (SW) would devote himself entirely to spreading the message of God and establishing the foundations of the Islamic Ummah.

On this occasion, we extend our best wishes to our readers.
