Translation of the book of contemporary Iranian literature in Italian
In the XNUMXst International Book Fair, the stand of the Association for Culture and Islamic Relations began its activities with the slogan “No to not reading”. The session for the translation of the contemporary literature book was also held there. The translated book is titled "Joybare Lahzeha".
The realization of the book was carried out, in particular, thanks to the support of the Cultural Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The 33 Ponte publishing house and the Italian Institute for Africa and the East (IsMEO) also contributed.
The session was attended by Mohammad Jafar Yahaghi, a famous Iranian writer. Raffaele Mauriello, researcher and university professor at Iranian universities. The writer and interpreter of the book, Neda Alizade, also a university professor. And finally, the writer and university professor of Persian literature, Amir Jalali.
The famous Professor Yahaghi, the author of the book, spoke of the need to present a new perspective to those who would like to know contemporary Iranian literature. According to the professor, it is important to shed light on the development of Persian literature over the years.
The book is accompanied by an introductory essay by Professor Gian Roberto Scarcia. Proff. Scarcia is a famous professor of Persian language and literature at the University of Venice.
Regarding the translation work, we can report what the interpreter of the book, Neda Alizadeh, declared:
“I am happy that the Cultural Association supports translators. When we were offered the translation of this book, the work was done jointly with my husband (Dr. Raffaele Mauriello), who is a native speaker of Italian. This allowed us to fill in each other's strengths and weaknesses. It took two years to finish the job. My husband and I had long sessions of reflection and research to get the right translation and deliver the work. "
The work and willingness to translate Iranian works of literature is not a recent interest. in fact, it dates back to more or less a century and a half ago. In previous years, sessions have been held on this subject. Several Italian universities have carried out the work of translating some works of Iranian literature.
The "Shah Nameh" (Book of Kings), a masterpiece by Ferdowsi, the Iranian epic poet, has been translated in full. In addition to this, one of the masterpieces of the Iranian lyric poet and mystic Hafez, author of the “Divan-e-hafez” (Sofa of Hafez) has also been translated.
The session ends with thanks to the Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations for supporting the translation and the importance of showing the richness of Persian literature to the Italian reader.
